PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Analyst role for our Gas Department is focused on supply/demand balancing and forecasting. This role is responsible for scheduling pipelines and serving as support for trading and risk activities in an international and multi-state environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Forecast natural gas demand and balance various markets throughout the Rockies, Mid-West, and Canada.
• Understand tariff rules on various utility and pipelines in order to adequately manage markets.
• Schedule natural gas on various pipelines throughout the U.S. and Canada.
• Communicate with counterparties to exchange scheduling information for both daily and monthly transactions to ensure that all purchases and sales are scheduled accordingly.
• Actualize or balance pipeline and utilities on a monthly basis. Confirm all deliveries and receipts are recorded accurately in the Company’s database compared pipeline and utility statements.
• Rotating weekend coverage which includes but is not limited to, scheduling all pipelines that require daily updates, monitoring and managing cuts for all pipelines and utilities, and communicating with counterparties to resolve any discrepancies.
• Support trading activities.
• Effectively communicate current and projected market demand so company can make educated decisions to optimize supply and manage risk.
• Input completed deals by the trading desk on a daily basis. Reconcile and confirm all deals daily to ensure accurate recording in the Company’s database.
• Gather data and notices on various pipelines including: operating conditions, maintenance plans, and open season or other marketing related notices.
• Various Ad-Hoc analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting or Business Administration
• 1-3 years of professional experience (accounting or similar field preferred)
• Basic understanding of the oil and gas or commodities market
• Comfortable communicating and gathering information from counterparties, customers, utilities, and pipelines
• Strong computer skills, expert in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working in a database environment
• Proven ability to reconcile and balance accounts
LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, tariffs, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
COGNITIVE DEMANDS
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to identify problems, root cause, and finding resolution.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of cloud based CRM software and other web-based software programs, Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.
